Annette Abbate PT, DPT, CKTP, FMS, Clinic Director Annette Abbate PT, DPT, CKTP, FMS received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and is licensed to practice physical therapy in New York. She has over 6 years of clinical experience specializing in outpatient orthopedics / sport injuries and outpatient pediatrics. Annette has always been fascinated by anatomy and physiology since she was a small child. Her mother, Marilyn, a Speech Language Pathologist working in pediatrics, had exposed Annette to therapy services at an early age. A lifetime athlete, Annette was always into sports and thus exposed to injuries shared among teammates.
By high school, she knew she wanted to be involved in sports, pediatrics, and helping those with movement disorders. Annette completed clinical affiliations treating a variety of patients with conditions ranging from simple orthopedic to medically complex in the pediatric, adult and geriatric populations. Annette has been part of the multidisciplinary management of patients in the acute, sub-acute, and outpatient pediatric & adult orthopaedic settings. While at USP, she also participated in a Pro-Bono Experiential Learning Experience at Mercy Wellness Center. This experience provided underserved residents of West Philadelphia with access to physical therapy services while hands on learning occurred through faculty mentorship. While attending the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, she played NCAA Division II Softball for 4 years and developed expertise in the treatment of orthopaedics, sports injuries, post surgical patients, yoga, and wellness. She also specializes in pediatrics, both orthopaedic injuries and well as treating children with special needs using a sensory integration framework.
Annette truly enjoys working with children with developmental delay, low tone, and those on the autism spectrum disorder. She is a Certified Kinesiotape Practitioner and certified in the functional movement screen.
She holds a 200 hour RYT certification from YogaFit. She truly believes in performing quality physical therapy and motivating patients with positive energy, knowledge, empathy, and dedication. She absolutely loves what she does and could not picture her life without helping others reach their goals. When Annette is not hard at work helping her patients achieve their rehabilitation goals, she can be found spending time with her family, friends, practicing yoga, exercising, travelling, and enjoying the fruits of living in New York City. Tara Losquadro Liddle MPT, NDT, Regional Director of Pediatrics Tara received a BS in Physical Therapy from New York University along with a MS in Developmental Disabilities. Licensed to practice in New York for over thirty years, Tara is certified in Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) and has gained extensive experience various settings; including hospitals, private practice, early intervention and consulting.
Volunteering as a teenager with children with special needs sealed my fate as a physical therapist. I was enamored with the emotional and physical care implemented by the physical therapists working with the children. She has been working with children and their families since 1983. Drawing from her experience working with the adolescent population, Tara is the author of Why Motor Skills Matter: Improve your child's physical development to enhance learning and self-esteem. Tara often references Tscharnuter Akademie for Movement Organization (TAMO) and the Connecticut Infant-Toddler Developmental Assessment from Yale and is an expert in pediatric and family communications, quality care, team training, supervision and lecturing on neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients care. When Tara is not hard at work helping her patients achieve their rehabilitation goals, she can be found cycling, skiing and running; having last completed the NYC marathon in 2007.
She is also an avid traveler, reader and museum goer. Yi Chen PT, DPT Yi graduated from Stony Brook University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree, then continued her education at Stony Brook University where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2016. She completed clinical internships in various settings including subacute rehab, acute care, outpatient orthopedics, and outpatient pediatrics. She has always wanted to work in healthcare field to help those in need. One of the most important reasons Yi became a physical therapist is because of the difficulties her grandfather faced after suffering from two strokes. He did not receive any Physical Therapy services and passed away shortly thereafter.
It was then she knew there had to be something out there that could've improved his quality of life. Yi has volunteered at Brooklyn public library after school program, Stony Brook childcare service, and currently volunteering for Sunday school in a local church. Yi also enjoys doing yoga, pilates, spinning, boot camp classes, and kickboxing classes. Marie Grace Aliggayu PT, DPT Grace graduated Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at Our Lady of Fatima University in the Philippines November 2000 and is also a registered PT in the Philippines.
Grace wanted to be a PT since I was in 3rd yr HS, for the sole reason of having the opportunity to work abroad since PT was so in demand. During the course of her training, she realized how movement and exercises can bring a patient back to their maximal function. She has gained clinical experience working in outpatient facilities and home health services in the Philippines.
She has been working in outpatient facilities in NY since 2007, treating adult and pediatric musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. Investigations Curriculum Center faculty collaborated with the director and teachers of the children’s program to develop the Investigations curriculum. The curriculum is based on the theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, and Malaguzzi, and the classroom applications of their work by Forman, Gandini, Katz, Leong, and Bedrova. The curriculum is centered around engaging projects—called “investigations”—on topics that are selected by children, teachers, and families. As children investigate a topic in learning centers, small collaborative groups, whole group activities, movement and music experiences, outdoor observation, or field trips, they acquire critical competencies identified in the Connecticut State Department of Education Curriculum and Assessment Framework and the standards of national professional organizations. Children’s progress toward achieving these competencies is assessed through anecdotal records, sampling of children’s work and play, photos and video, and interviews with parents.
Four pillars—evidence-based strategies—support children’s investigations: play scaffolding (a special kind of adult support as children play), collaborative learning projects, evidence-based arrangement of learning centers, and portfolio assessment. The underlying principles of the curriculum are as follows:.
Preschool Assessment Forms
Preschool children actively make sense of the world through the use of prior knowledge and skills. Content knowledge, critical thinking skills, and learning processes are equally important.
Children have a natural curiosity about the far away, long ago, nature, and the world. Young children can construct content knowledge about any phenomenon as long as the can build on prior knowledge. Unique content can lead to curiosity, exploration, and a sense of wonder that stretches thinking. Aspects of the physical environment are important to shaping children’s content knowledge as well as across disciplines.
