Develop a written customer service policy for your business. Elaborate on specific points during training; later employees can refer to the manual when questions arise in the workplace. Include scenarios that customer service representatives frequently encounter and provide direction on how similar issues should be handled. For example, if you you own a small pool-cleaning business and a common concern is pool cleaners who don’t show up on their designated day, the training manual may direct the customer service representative to apologize to the customer, reschedule a cleaning date and offer a discount on the next month of service to make up for the inconvenience.
